Troven vs Travel Animator: which one should you use for your trip video?

Pick Travel Animator if you want to plot a route by hand and animate it with 3D vehicle models and your own styling, in an app. Pick Troven if you want the route built from your trip photos in the browser, with your photos placed along it and an interactive map and itinerary alongside the route video.

Updated September 2026

A Troven route video, ending on the distance and stops of the trip.

How to choose

  1. You have the photos, not the route

Troven builds the stops and the route from the location in your photos. Travel Animator starts from points you place.

  2. You want a 3D vehicle on the route

Travel Animator is built around animated 3D vehicle models. Troven does not use vehicles.

  3. You want the whole trip, not only a clip

Troven adds a trip page with an interactive map, an itinerary and AI posters.

  4. You need 4K

Travel Animator exports 4K on Pro. Troven exports up to 1080p.

The difference in one line

Travel Animator is a route animation studio. Troven turns the photos of a trip into the route, the map, the itinerary and the video.

Where Travel Animator is stronger

  • Styling control. Vehicles, labels and text give you a lot of room to shape the look of each video.
  • Trips without photos. You can animate any route you can plot, including planned trips.
  • 4K on Pro and unlimited exports on its free plan, according to its plans page.
  • Native apps today on iPhone, Android and Mac.

Where Troven is different

  • The route comes from your photos. No plotting: stops appear where your photos were taken, in order.
  • Your photos placed for you, at the stops where they were taken.
  • More than a video. A public trip page with an interactive map, a day-by-day itinerary and AI posters.
  • Works in the browser now. Nothing to install, and iOS and Android apps are launching soon.

If your photos have no location, Troven needs a hand: describe the trip or place the stops yourself. See what to do when travel photos have no GPS.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does Travel Animator build the route from my photos?
Its documentation describes plotting stops, importing GPX or Google Maps links, and dropping photos onto route points yourself. It launched a "Journey AI" feature in September 2026 that we could not verify in detail.
Which one is free?
Troven is free on the web today. Travel Animator has a free plan with HD exports and its logo, and a Pro plan that removes the watermark and adds 4K.
Which formats can I export?
Both make vertical videos for Reels and Shorts. Troven exports 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9 up to 1080p. Travel Animator lists 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1.
Does either track my location?
No. Both work without background location tracking.
